Located within one of Singapore’s most prestigious residential districts, the Nassim Road Residence was designed by Laurie Abbott and Richard Rogers Partnership for a private client. The project comprised a primary residence, two detached pavilions, swimming pools and extensive landscaped gardens, carefully integrated within the tropical setting of the site.
Acting as Project Lead for Richard Rogers Partnership, Nick Hancock was responsible for the development and delivery of the project from concept design through to completion. Working closely with the client, design team and delivery partners, he provided continuity throughout the life of the project, ensuring that the architectural vision was translated into a coordinated and buildable solution.
The project was delivered in collaboration with Architects 61, who acted as Executive Architects in Singapore, while Richard Rogers Partnership fulfilled the role of Design Architects. Nick was responsible for preparing and coordinating the design documentation, technical details, specifications and construction information required to deliver the project, while maintaining alignment between the design intent and local delivery requirements.
Responsibilities included technical design development, consultant coordination, specification writing, construction documentation, client liaison and site oversight. The role required close collaboration with Architects 61, specialist consultants, contractors and suppliers to resolve technical issues, coordinate information and maintain quality throughout construction.
Particular attention was given to the integration of architecture, landscape and detailing. The project demanded careful consideration of climate, material selection, construction tolerances and the relationship between the principal residence, guest pavilions and surrounding gardens. Extensive bespoke detailing was developed throughout the project to support the architectural clarity and precision for which the practice is known.
Completed in 2010, the Nassim Road Residence remains an example of how rigorous design development, technical coordination and construction oversight can preserve architectural quality from concept through to completion. The project played an important role in developing Nick’s experience in leading complex residential projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams within an international delivery environment.
