The Misk Institute of Arts & Culture forms a key part of Riyadh’s wider cultural transformation programme, providing a major new destination dedicated to creativity, education, research and public engagement.

Designed by Adjaye Associates, the project brings together exhibition spaces, educational facilities, performance venues, public gathering areas and cultural programming within a highly integrated architectural environment intended to support the next generation of artists, researchers and creative practitioners.

As Head of Technical Design and Project Management at Adjaye Associates, Nick Hancock acted as LDC Lead and Technical Lead for the project, overseeing the coordination, technical development and delivery management of one of the practice’s most significant cultural commissions.

Working directly with client representatives, consultants and specialist design teams, he was responsible for establishing project procedures, managing multidisciplinary coordination, directing QA/QC processes, negotiating consultant appointments and maintaining technical alignment throughout the detailed design programme.

The project required the integration of complex architectural, structural, environmental and specialist systems while maintaining the clarity of the design vision across a large and technically demanding cultural institution. Through strong leadership, rigorous coordination and technical oversight, the project advanced through detailed design as a major contribution to Riyadh’s evolving cultural landscape.
