The BBC Television Centre Redevelopment transformed one of Britain’s most recognised broadcasting landmarks into a major mixed-use destination comprising residential, commercial, retail and public realm developments.

Working as a consultant to AHMM, Nick Hancock was initially engaged to support the detailed design development of the project during a period when BIM workflows were still emerging and much of the project information was being coordinated through conventional 2D documentation.

Originally tasked with developing detailed design information, his role quickly expanded to include structural and building services coordination across the extensive undercroft and parking levels that connected the various buildings across the site.

As the project progressed, responsibilities broadened further to include coordination within individual buildings, resolving complex interfaces between architectural, structural and MEP systems across multiple packages and disciplines.

The role demanded rapid problem solving, technical coordination and the ability to manage large volumes of information across a highly complex development. Working closely with architects, engineers and specialist consultants, Nick helped establish coordinated technical solutions that supported the successful delivery of one of London’s most significant regeneration projects.

As the project entered construction, AHMM invited Nick to join the site team full-time to continue supporting delivery. Having completed the technical coordination phase of his involvement, he elected to pursue other opportunities and concluded his role on the project.
